The Moth

I’ve never thought of moths as being pretty…in fact quite the opposite!

The girls and I returned to the minivan after grocery shopping We opened the door and startled the moth and that is when I spotted it as it fluttered to the asphalt. With a wing span of at least six inches it was also one of the largest moths I have ever seen. I took a quick shot with my phone.

Is It Time Now?

The jumpster was probably their all time favorite activity even to this day…well most days…

I placed two of them adjacent to each other and it was incredible to us that as they learned to bounce, they mastered their space and never hit the door frames. As their legs grew stronger, they would jump forward and back and actually timed it so they were both swinging at the same time without hitting each other.

The Peach…

So…we were driving from North Carolina to Georgia and I saw…The Peach…a massive peach mooning us looming above us.

T-Rex Restaurant

Our first evening in Florida, we went to dinner at Downtown Disney at the T-Rex restaurant…definitely a neat experience and endless visual stimuli for youngsters. The meteor shower show every 20 minutes or so turns your surroundings into a living prehistoric scene with all the creatures coming alive and loud meteor sound effects.

Beautiful in the day, breathtaking at night.

Maggie Our “Third Twin”

Maggie was ever so watchful over the girls, that we used to jokingly call her Mother Mags…but we’ve come to realize that she thinks she’s just one of the twins…

The Croquet Course

“See the flag…that’s where we have to hit our ball to…”

This is the Croquet Course for Junior Golfers…someone definitely had fun designing this mini course. Each hole is less than 50 yards but a couple were quite challenging…although very pretty. This is the first time the girls were on a course so we simply adjusted the location of our tee box!

First Blueberries

blueberries

I have always wanted to grow blueberries, so this year we selected a couple bushes. I knew I had to get two varieties but when I was told that it takes two years to get fruit…I almost…took them off the cart.

At the end of June we saw light colored round shapes on the bushes and just assumed they wouldn’t mature this year but they kept growing and growing and turned blue! We picked one and cut it open to inspect, compared it to store bought blueberries. It looked identical so we had a taste test…

I had a napkin ready, expecting the worst but to our surprise they were very sweet! In fact, if all blueberries were this sweet I’d eat them like candy like the way the girls do.

4th of July

fireworks

fireworks

As we walked outside, all one of my girls heard was the sound of the cannons shooting off the fireworks… and she booked it back into the house. It took some coaxing to leave the safety of the couch and come outside to view the show.

But she did and they both enjoyed it immensely.

The Mountain House

family gathering place

family gathering place

This is our family gathering place. It marks new milestones each time we go.

First, the girls were in carriers and and the mini van was completely loaded for a two day stay. The double stroller, the co-sleeper, the booster seats…

Next came the crawling stage where we had every contraption and safety item from the Super Yard to cabinet locks and electric plug covers, and thick mats to sleep on.

Then came the entertainment stage where we brought the endless bag of snacks for the ride, new books and toys to keep them busy.

Now, they pack their own little backpack and fill it with books, stuffed animals and small toys and we are bringing their first set of clubs!
